Help put a pocket park on La Mirada and Serrano Avenue!

Did you know…

In Los Angeles, only 10% of the city’s land is allocated towards parks.

The City of Los Angeles has 4.2 acres of park space per 1,000 residents while the national averages range from 6.25 to 10.5 acres per 1,000 residents.

Council District 13 has approximately 0.38 acres of park space per 1,000 persons, one of the lowest compared to the other 14 districts.  The average city council district park figure is 0.966 acres per 1,000 residents.

The good news is Council District 13 and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA/LA) are applying for a grant to turn the vacant lot on the corner of Serrano and La Mirada into a pocket park.  In order to improve their chances of receiving the grant, they are reaching out to the community to find out what residents (including children) would like to see in their neighborhood park.

When: Saturday, February 6th from 12-2pm!
Where: Corner of La Mirada and Serrano Avenue in Hollywood
What: Share your ideas and review design elements for a pocket park, participate in art projects (for children), and enjoy some refreshments

Please see the flyer in English or Español for more information.
