The Hollywood Community Studio is fortunate to partner with four stellar organizations: The Thai Community Development Center, Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, LA Voice and The Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles. Learn more below.
Thai Community Development Center
www.thaicdc.org
Founded in 1994, Thai CDC’s mission is to provide ethnic communities with basic rights to decent standard of living and quality of life. This includes a comprehensive plan on affordable housing, promotion of small businesses, neighborhood empowerment, and access to healthcare. Currently, Thai CDC offers an Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program (API SBP), and a Community Health Leadership Program. Additionally they are property owners of two housing projects, Halifax Apartments and Palm Village Senior Apartments. Thai CDC will be assisting the HD-OD project by performing outreach to and surveying the needs of Hollywood’s small businesses, and by providing leadership and business training to vulnerable organizations.
Hollywood Community Housing Corporation
www.hollywoodhousing.org
Founded in 1989, HCHC serves the Hollywood area by preserving and revitalizing existing properties while responding to the need for affordable housing for low-income families, seniors and the disabled. They have been successful in housing 2000 people in sixteen completed housing developments. Currently they are working on a scattered site housing preservation project and the conversion of a large historic home within our HD-OD target zone into office space for arts organizations and a music conservatory.
LA Voice
www.lavoicepico.org
Founded in 2000, LA VOICE is an interfaith community organization that unites people from diverse backgrounds to improve quality of life for those most underserved, giving them a voice in the public arena. Members are part of schools, unions, religious institutions, and neighborhood organizations. They have been instrumental in raising awareness and creating solutions to pressing issues in urban communities such as health care, social justice, housing, and the environment. Currently, they are very active in the Housing LA Campaign, an initiative to address the affordable housing crisis. LA Voice will be assisting the HD-OD project by performing outreach to and surveying the needs of Hollywood’s vulnerable populations.
