Free Neighborhood Design Toolkit!

Urban design collaborative Sheridan/Hawkes just released “Design Your Neighborhood,” a step-by-step guide on how you can make your neighborhood more livable. Suggestions range from installing bike racks to greening alleys and sidewalks, and include suggestions on where to find funding and support for these projects. Though the guide is targeted at Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils, any community group could use the advice in this easy-to-read pamphlet. Download it for free here!

Results for the Central Hollywood North surveys are in!

In order to measure change in Hollywood, the Hollywood Community Studio conducts annual surveys of Central Hollywood.  This past summer, the HCS, with help from amazing interns, completed the second of three planned summer survey efforts and focused on the northern part of Central Hollywood bounded by La Brea Blvd, the 101 Freeway, Franklin Ave, and Selma Ave.  Over 350 residents and workers were surveyed on their perceptions of change in Hollywood.  Did you know that over 50 percent have lived in Hollywood more than 5 years, and nearly a third more than 10 years?

Find out more!  Click here to download the short report.  Feel free to let us know what you think, and stay tuned for results on our third study area in 2011: Central Hollywood East.
